Ontario Veterinary College PhD student Janan Shoja Doost’s research aims to further establish the link between cardiovascular health and disease and circadian rhythms, rhythms that follow the 24-hour day-night cycle.

Dr. David Kelton, Ontario Veterinary College’s (OVC) Department of Population Medicine, and Dr. Jim Petrik, OVC Department of Biomedical Sciences, have been inducted as Fellows with the Canadian Academy of Health Sciences.

Healthier dairy herds may result from paying more attention to farmers’ calf care practices, researchers at the University of Guelph’s Ontario Veterinary College (OVC) have found. In this first-time study, Dr. Devon Wilson, veterinarian and PhD student, and Dr. David Renaud, professor in OVC’s Department of Population Medicine, used focus groups of dairy farmers to explore male and female calf care practices and suggest improvements.

Supported in part by a $23-million infrastructure renewal investment from the province of Ontario, the facilities are the result of a successful $9-million fundraising campaign led by OVC Pet Trust.
