What is Discover Vet School?

Discover Vet School is a two-day series of lectures and labs delivered in-person by veterinarians, faculty, employees, alumni, special guest speakers, and student veterinarians from the Ontario Veterinary College. This program will take aspiring veterinarians through subjects normally taught only in vet school. 

Learn about different aspects of veterinary medicine and animal science by experiencing a day in the life of a veterinary student. Topics covered this year include small animals, large animals, exotics, cardiology, pathology, parasitology, radiology, and veterinary communication.

Dates and Itinerary

Discover Vet School is held over two weekends. You can attend either or both!

This year's events will be held on Saturday, January 21 and Saturday, March 25, 2023.

The full itinerary of events can be found on the registration site. Program registration includes a meal during lunchtime and refreshments in the morning!

Location

All activities will be held at the Ontario Veterinary College. Upon arrival, we will have registration booths for check-in at the Lifetime Learning Centre (LLC). For GPS, the building address is 25 McGilvray Street, Guelph, Ontario.

Program registration includes a series of engaging lectures, interactive labs, lunch, refreshments, DVM admissions debrief, student veterinarian Q&A, and OVC campus tours.

Register for two (2) dates = $215

Regular Tickets (starts on January 1, 2023 at 12:00am, EST)

            Register for one (1) date = $135

            Register for two (2) dates = $235

New this year: T-Shirt Fundraiser for Global Vets

This year, we are offering t-shirts at Discover Vet School to fundraise for Global Vets! There are four designs available and we are offering a range of sizes from small to 5XL. The price per t-shirt is $25. T-shirts will be ready to be picked up on the day of DVS. You can wear it loud and proud or save it as a keepsake.

About Global Vets

All proceeds from the OVC Discover Vet School will support Global Vets. Global Vets is a program that falls under the International Veterinary Medicine Club, a student and faculty run program. The Global Vets program was formed to promote international collaboration on animal health and welfare, agricultural development and ecosystem health. The program strives to enhance working relationships and the exchange of ideas between Canadian veterinarians and their colleagues in developing regions of the world.

Discover Vet School is organized and run by student veterinarians with assistance from the Dean’s Office at OVC.
