About the Lecture
The Future of Assisted Reproductive Technologies in Cattle
Embryo transfer in cattle was first achieved in 1950. Since that time, improvements in the process of producing and transferring embryos, including important contributions from the Ontario Veterinary College, have given rise to embryo transfer being a procedure that can be easily performed on dairy and beef farms. Driven by recent advances in genomics and stem cell biology, embryo technologies are today poised to transform genetic improvement and reproductive management strategies in cattle. These developments will be the focus of the lecture.
