Description:

The whole plant is stored chopped as a fermented feed (i.e. corn silage consisting of stalk, leaves, cob, and grain). It can be stored in a bunk silo, top or bottom unloading silo, and ag bags (seen in photo). Earlier harvest will yield more nutrients than a later harvest. Corn silage is harvested once per year, whereas haylage and baleage can be harvested up to 3 times per year. See fiber for more information about the different types of ensiled feeds.
