Description:

Ingredients are mixed and packed into pellet form providing a nutritionally consistent feed.

Pelleted feeds can contain high levels of different nutrients, such as protein, energy, and vitamins and minerals. They can be fed as protein supplements, where a pelleted feed is high in protein but shouldn't be used as a principal source of other nutrients. They can also be fed as complete feeds where the pelleted feed is a good source of multiple nutrients, not just protein. Protein supplements are fed in smaller quantities than complete feeds (1 to 5 kg/cow daily compared to 9 to 12 kg/cow daily).

Composition of pelleted feed as different types are specific to the age and use. Pelleted feeds are prepared and purchased off-farm, and come with label information on how much to feed based on body weight and activity level.
