Description: 

Barley is a cereal grain. When compared to commonly used corn grain it has lower energy levels higher ruminal digestibility. The higher digestibilty level of barley results in greater microbial protein production, which results in comparable starch digestion between barley and corn despite barley's lower energy levels.
