Antimicrobial Resistance and Antimicrobial Use

Bacterial resistance to antibiotics is an increasing public health and animal health concern. Resistant organisms can reach people through the food chain, the environment, or other humans and animals.  CPHAZ members continue to examine the effects of antimicrobial use on resistance as well as alternatives such as different livestock management practices and the use of probiotics. This work spans the fields of medicine from molecular epidemiology to preventing clinical disease in animals.
