He completed his Master’s in Veterinary Public Health from Freie Universität Berlin and Chiang Mai University Thailand in 2011 and completed his PhD in veterinary science from the University of Sydney in 2018. Kamal is currently working as a Postdoctoral fellow in Dr. Amy Greer's lab.
Kamal's principal work interest is in assessing and addressing public health threats that are intricately linked to animal interface. He has been using epidemiological and statistical tools for these purpose and is keen to explore the use of mathematical tools for these purposes.
His current research focus is on evaluating an Online Platform for Expanding Antibiotic Stewardship (OPEN Stewardship) among veterinarians. He will use both qualitative and quantitative methods to evaluate the feedback report obtained using the OPEN Stewardship platform, to measure the impact of an antibiotic stewardship intervention (audit and feedback) and to identify the behavioural factors that needs to be considered in devising a successful antibiotic stewardship intervention.
