Computer Laboratories

The department has good computing facilities and access to a 50-workstation OVC microcomputer laboratory. A number of laboratories supporting data storage and analysis are also available.

 

Theriogenology

The theriogenology section has well-equipped laboratories for hormonal and embryo studies.

 

Livestock Research Centers

In addition to our field service clients, who often collaborate in, and are supportive of, research projects, we have access to numerous livestock research centres, including the Ponsonby General Animal Facility, Ponsonby Animal Facility (sheep and goats), Arkell Research Stations for Swine, Equine, and Poultry, and the Ontario Dairy Research Centre at the Elora Research Station.  

 

Center for Public Health and Zoonoses (CPHAZ)

The Center for Public Health and Zoonoses (CPHAZ) was established within the Ontario Veterinary College, at the University of Guelph, in 2006. Its focus is to provide a coordinating and leadership role for existing and new initiatives in animal related aspects of public health in research, teaching, and knowledge translation. CPHAZ thus encourages and fosters a multidisciplinary and collaborative research atmosphere.

Well-equipped laboratories for microbiologic and food protection studies are available. Active research links with scientists in the Public Health Agency of Canada (PHAC) help support research in the area of public health.
