Thiyaana completed her BSc in Mathematical Science with an emphasis in Psychology at the University of Guelph. She is currently working on her MSc in Epidemiology under Dr.Olaf Berke’s supervision. She will be investigating the COVID-19 syndemic in Ontario to understand how socio-economic disparities amplify health inequalities. She is specifically interested in the relationship between the socio-economic environment and comorbidities that exacerbate the risk and severity of COVID-19. Thiyaana’s research interests include social epidemiology, infectious disease modeling, and spatial epidemiology.
