Kurtis is a PhD. Candidate in the Department of Population Medicine at the OVC. He completed his Bachelor of Science degree in Life Sciences at Queen's University, with a focus in epidemiology. His undergraduate thesis project involved identifying geological risk factors for E. coli contamination of ground water sources in Ontario. Currently, he is studying the spatio-temporal patterns of Varroa destructor infestations in apiaries of Ontario, and developing a provincial surveillance system for beekeepers to monitor their risk for Varroa.
