Bianka is a master's student studying Epidemiology in the department of Population Medicine under the supervision of Dr. Michele Guerin. Bianka recently graduated from the University of Guelph receiving her Bachelors of Science degree from the Animal Biology program. Her background in Animal Biology helped foster her passion for animal health and epidemiology. Also, working for Ontario Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Rural Affairs gave her opportunities to research and get hands on experience with poultry.
Bianka’s major project is part of a previously established disease surveillance study conducted on small flocks in Ontario. She will focus on Mycoplasma gallisepticum and the risk factors associated to demographics, husbandry, and biosecurity practises in these small flocks.
