Dave Renaud is a veterinary epidemiologist in the Department of Population Medicine. He received his DVM from the University of Guelph in 2014, and worked in private practice on a full or part time basis for 4 years. Dave obtained his PhD in epidemiology from the Department of Population Medicine. His research focuses on the health and welfare of dairy calves. Dave teaches in both the veterinary and undergraduate curriculum.
Dave’s predominant research focus is on improving the health and welfare of calves. Specific topic areas include:
- Identifying risk factors associated with mortality at milk-fed and grain-fed veal operations
- Exploring novel strategies to reduce antimicrobial use in the veal sector
- Evaluating the utility of navel disinfection in dairy calves
- Identifying new technologies to improve calf health and welfare
