DVM, MVSc, MSc, DVSc, Veterinary Microbiologist
Hugh was trained and employed as a veterinarian in Foshan Veterinary College in Foshan, China. Later he earned a Master’s degree in Veterinary Medicine and worked with large animals and taught Internal Medicine in the Military Veterinary College in Changchun, China. After moving to Canada, Hugh received a Master’s degree in microbiology from the Faculty of Medicine, University of Ottawa, and then completed a Doctor of Veterinary Science program in animal infectious diseases at the Ontario Veterinary College. Hugh joined the AHL in 1997 as a Veterinary Molecular Biologist, then Microbiologist. He supervises the sections of Molecular Biology, Mycoplasmology and Parasitology. Hugh’s focus is on the molecular diagnosis of infection of difficult-to-culture microorganisms.
Hugh is an Adjunct Professor in the Department of Pathobiology, OVC, and Foshan Veterinary College. He is a volunteer internal assessor of ISO-17025 and AAVLD accreditation. He enjoys photography and playing badminton and basketball.
