A growing number of research programs of University of Guelph faculty members fall in the area of regenerative medicine. First established in 1964, the University of Guelph is a comprehensive, research-intensive institution, accommodating upwards of 20,000 full-time undergraduate and graduate students. Comprehensive universities have a significant research finding and a wide variety of undergraduate and masters programs. The University of Guelph is ranked 4th in Canada for best comprehensive university by the 2017 Maclean’s University rankings. Also, it obtained the most research funding among Canadian comprehensive universities in 2015. Located within the UofG, the Ontario Veterinary College (OVC) was ranked 4th in the world for veterinary medicine by the 2015 Quacquarelli Symonds World University Rankings. The University of Guelph is regionally located between major human medical centers including the University of Toronto, McMaster University and the University of Western Ontario.
