Research Interests

  • Evaluating the neuroprotective efficacy of natural compounds in stroke models and in particular their impact upon endoplasmic reticulum stress and unfolded protein response pathways.
  • Cellular models of neurodevelopment, including olfactory neurospheres, iPS cells and cerebral organoids.
  • Modelling neurodevelopmental parameters using patient derived stem cells in neuropsychiatric illness.
  • Evaluating adult stem cell populations for their potential use in autologous cell therapies
  • Assessing the impact of cannabis, alcohol on the molecular pathways underlying normal/abnormal neurodevelopment.
  • Assessing the effect of antipsychotics/antidepressants on the molecular pathways underlying normal/abnormal neurodevelopment.
