The Ontario Veterinary College (OVC) will celebrate the outstanding achievements of students, faculty and staff at the summer Convocation awards ceremony on Thursday, June 14.
The awards ceremony will begin at 2 p.m. in War Memorial Hall. Faculty and staff are invited to attend. You can also watch the OVC DVM Awards on line at LIVE link

Following a reception in Creelman Hall, the Convocation ceremonies for OVC graduates in the DVM, DVSc, PhD, MSc, Master of Public Health and Graduate Diploma programs will take place at the U of G Athletics Centre.
During Convocation ceremonies, Emmanuelle Gattuso, television producer and communications entrepreneur who has raised millions for cancer treatment and research as well as U of G’s Ontario Veterinary College Pet Trust will receive an honorary degree.
Ontario Veterinary College professor Dale Smith and students in the Population Medicine and Pathobiology department also will be honoured during the Convocation Ceremonies.
Smith, in OVC’s Department of Pathobiology, will be named professor emerita at the Convocation ceremony.
The Forster Medals, U of G’s top convocation award for graduate students, will go to Melissa MacKinnon and Jamie Rothenburger. Rothenburger, OVC PhD 2018, is the 2018 recipient of the D.F. Forster Doctoral Medal. MacKinnon, OVC 2008, and current PhD student in Population Medicine (Epidemiology field), is the 2018 recipient of the D. F. Forster Magisteriate Medal related to her OVC MSc 2017 degree. Named for the late Donald Forster, a former U of G president, the medals are the most prestigious graduate convocation awards at the University of Guelph, recognizing academic achievement, leadership and citizenship.
Rothenburger is also being recognized with a Governor General’s award for outstanding academic achievement at the graduate level of study.
