A new strategic plan from the Ontario Veterinary College will guide the College’s direction for the next five years.
“I’m very proud of what we’ve achieved here,” said OVC Dean Jeff Wichtel at the plan’s launch this week. “This plan gives us our true north for the next five years. It allows us to focus on several key areas that we think are going to be important for the future of OVC, the university and our world.”
The plan is guided by the strategic renewal themes of the University of Guelph, and particularly by the University’s tagline: Improve Life.
A year in the making, the plan’s creation included extensive feedback and community outreach opportunities in the college with staff, faculty and students, as well as with external stakeholders to identify emerging needs in our local and global community and seek the most significant ways that OVC can make a difference.
The OVC Healthy Futures Strategic Plan 2022 outlines five strategic areas of focus:
1. Learning Pathways: Enhancing the Student Experience
2. Innovation and Discovery: One Health Research Leadership
3. Vet Med Ed 2.0: A New World of Instructional Technology
4. Our Impact: Influencing Societal Change
5. The Power of People: Enhancing Workplace Culture and Recruiting the Very Best
“Opportunities for input will continue over the next five years and each of you are encouraged to find a way to contribute,” he noted. “Whether you find yourself on a committee, as part of a focus group, as an ambassador for the ideas and vision in your part of the organization or going outside the organization to develop partnerships, these are all things we need.”
