The Crest has a new look

The Crest Spring Summer 2018 cover imageFor many years, The Crest has played a crucial role connecting the Ontario Veterinary College to its many alumni, partners and friends. The Spring Summer issue of Crest - the research, teaching and health care magazine of the Ontario Veterinary College – is now available.

“I’m very happy to welcome you to a refreshed, expanded Crest, brimming with stories about the outstanding accomplishments of our OVC community in teaching, discovery and innovative health services,” says OVC Dean Jeff Wichtel. “This year, we are extending Crest’s circulation to reach more of our collaborators, partners and allies in our vision to continually push the boundaries of veterinary medicine, ultimately to Improve Life.”

This issue includes discovery of Echinococcus multilocularis, a zoonotic disease recently identified in southern Ontario, adoption of creative digital classroom technology, celebration of the increasingly diverse One Health career opportunities pursued by OVC grads, as well as the exploration of critical areas of mental health wellness to benefit the veterinary profession.

Many of the stories in this issue illustrate the strategic goals contained in OVC’s new OVC Strategic Plan, Healthy Futures 2022 – enhancing the student experience, One Health leadership, instructional technology, the power of the people and impact on societal change.

“These stories not only underline the continuing vital role of veterinary medicine in our society, they provide a glimpse into the many ways we all contribute to this important work,” notes Wichtel.
