This event brings together individuals with an interest in one or many pillars of public health and zoonotic disease. These include One Health, emerging diseases, food safety, comparative medicine, environmental health, antimicrobial stewardship just to list a few. We encourage participants (attending and presenting) from local public health, provincial and federal government, industry collaborators and academic faculty and students.

As a one day event, the symposium promises to provide presentations touching on innovative research, emerging disease strategies, technology development and more. Our scientific poster display will showcase the strength and breadth of the graduate research and public health programs here at the University of Guelph and beyond.

Abstract Submission

If you work or have research in any of the themes under public health and zoonotic disease, we welcome you to submit an abstract! Abstracts will be screened and considered for poster or oral presentations.
Abstracts should be approximately 250 words and contain a clear description of the objectives, methods and any results, whether preliminary or final. Submissions detailing innovative initiatives and programs regarding public health and zoonotic topics are also welcome and encouraged. Priority for oral presentations will be given to abstracts with complete results.
Graduate students approved for poster presentations will have the opportunity to partake in interactive sessions. Students will be given 2 minutes to present a concise version of their poster to the audience, who will then nominate their top three presentations. Monetary prizes will be awarded to the overall top three candidates

Anyone with an interest in public health topics that highlight the intersection of animal, human and environmental health are welcome and encouraged to attend. Stop in for part of the day or the whole event. Registration is free. This includes complimentary Wi-Fi, coffee, tea and cold drinks. Break and lunch meals will be provided. In an effort to keep an accurate count of attendees for hospitality, once registered, if your availability to attend changes please let us know at cphaz@uoguelph.ca
