Previous OVCAA Award Recipients

Every year, the OVCAA highlights the outstanding accomplishments and contributions of a few of our many extraordinary alumni. If you know a friend, colleague or classmate from OVC, or if you are a member of the public and you know a veterinarian who graduated from OVC who deserves to be recognized for the things they've done, consider nominating that person for one of the three following awards. The current nomination deadline for these awards is March 1st.

Nominees for OVCAA awards should also be considered for the University of Guelph Alumni Association (UGAA) Awards of Excellence! The nomination procedure is almost identical, and we know there are lots of "excellent" OVC graduates out there who have made not only OVC but the entire University proud. Please consider submitting concurrent nominations for any of these university-wide awards:


OVCAA Distinguished Alumnus

This award was established to recognize OVC graduates who have brought honour to their alma mater and fellow alumni by contributing to one or more of the follow areas:

  • Alumni Affairs
  • Education
  • Community
  • Profession
  • Country
  • Sciences

Please outline the nominee’s contributions to the above categories and attach to this form. Individuals making the nomination must provide an overall statement of recommendation (maximum 3 pages), containing any pertinent information. Please attach the statement to the nomination form (link below) and include the names of or letters of support (no more than 1 page in length) from up to a maximum of 5 individuals who have first-hand knowledge of the nominee’s accomplishments.

OVCAA Young Alumnus

This award was established to recognize OVC graduates who have made a significant contribution in their field within fifteen years of completing an undergraduate DVM or a graduate degree from a department within the OVC.

Please outline the nominee’s contributions to their profession, their college, academic achievements or service to community and country. Individuals making the nomination must provide an overall statement of recommendation (maximum 3 pages), containing any pertinent information. Please attach the statement to the nomination form (link below) and include the names of or letters of support (no more than 1 page in length) from up to a maximum of 5 individuals who have first-hand knowledge of the nominee’s accomplishments.

OVCAA Alumni Volunteer

This award was established to recognize OVC graduates who have volunteered their time within the college, community, a veterinary organization, nationally and/or internationally and bring honour and recognition to the OVC.

Individuals making the nomination must provide an overall statement of recommendation (maximum 3 pages), containing any pertinent information.
